Dear Parents,
We wish to bring to your urgent and serious attention, the following:
At the time of admission we made it clear to all parents of day-boarders that they are bound by certain special obligations and responsibilities. This is because, running a day-boarding system within a full boarding school is indeed a difficult task for the school administration in terms of maintaining discipline. The major sector of Coorg Public School is the Boarding Sector. Boarders live on campus and therefore, we do have a separate set of rules and regulations governing the life of boarders. On many occasions in the past, we reminded you this point through circulars.
It has come to our attention that a few Day-Boarding children, engage themselves in certain activities which affect the discipline in the boarding house.
Some day-boarders have been found to be carrying eatables and assorted drinks and share them with their friends including boarders. The school certainly caters for the interests and requirements of boarders particularly their nutritional requirements. Therefore, carrying any food and drinks from outside and sharing them with boarders can only be considered as activities aimed at violating the boarding discipline.
Some day-boarders have been found to be bringing gifts and money to be presented to their friends including boarders on their birthdays. You may kindly realize that smuggling-in prohibited items through the school bag is risky and detrimental to the safety of all the children – especially boarders left to our care
We have absolutely no reason to think that these things are brought into the school by day-boarding children without the knowledge and permission of their parents. On several occasions in the past, we have warned the day-boarding children against this type of activities. However, we are disappointed to note that some of them still continue their activities ignoring our instructions and warnings.
The purpose of this circular is to inform the parents in clear terms that in future if any day boarding children are found to be involved in such activities they will be expelled from the school without further notice.
THE FOLLOWING IS FOR THE SPECIAL ATTENTION OF PARENTS OF STD. IV CHILDREN:
As your ward is studying in Std. IV, it is time for you to decide, whether you want him/her to be a boarder or day-boarder next academic year. We are herewith sending an application for you to fill-in and return by Monday, the 19th January 2009 clearly indicating your choice. If the completed application is not received by the date specified, it will be presumed that your ward is discontinuing studies in COPS and the vacancy will be offered to a new applicant.
(Prof.M.D.Nanjunda)
