Ref. No.: COPS/ 124 / 2007-08
11th May, 2007
Dear Parents,
Warm greetings and best wishes to you all from COPS family. We are all working with new vigour and enthusiasm to start the new session 2007-08, which is expected to be a new challenge, with the changing circumstances. Our routine and schedule to make your ward’s stay in school comfortable and fruitful are anyway there. To remove boredom and monotony we are planning new programmes. Perhaps last year’s
Suvarna Karnataka Sourabha was a trendsetter, in this direction.
The school provides ample opportunities to all the students to develop their personalities, in the form of various co-curricular and extra curricular activities. Daily morning assemblies and Saturday afternoon House Activities provide platform for your child to shed inhibition in participation. We have facilities for Sports and Games, Karate, Swimming, NCC, Scout & Guides, Duke of Edinburgh Programme, Trekking, weekend camps, Art & Craft, Dance and various personality development programmes on every Saturday afternoon. Your encouragement and advice to make use of these opportunities will go a long way in making your ward’s stint at COPS, fruitful.

It will be our endeavour to provide best of education to the day boarders at par with boarders. In this connection, you, as responsible parents should co-operate with school authorities in maintaining timings and discipline of the school. Please warn your child to desist from smuggling in or out letters, articles, tucks, etc. for their siblings, relatives and friends in the hostel. Any student caught indulging in such activities will be rusticated, without any further notice to you.

New Infrastructure:
A new building is coming up in the campus to accommodate additional facilities. Work is in progress on war footing to get it ready by this month end. New appointments of teaching staff have been made to cope with additional student strength. New teachers to handle Mathematics, English, Social Studies and other subjects will be joining on 1st June 2007.
|
Student Discipline:
For the smooth running of school administration, all students should follow the rules and regulations mentioned below.
|
|
(1) No Tucks and Money: Both boarders and day boarders are not allowed to bring eatables and money to the school. All requirements of the students will be supplied from the school store as and when required.
(2) Costly Items: Please do not pamper your wards by providing them with expensive pens, watches, cameras, music systems, jewellery, etc. The school does not take responsibility if they are lost. Boys are not allowed to use bracelets, ear rings, wrist bands etc.
(3) Boarders are allowed to use personal music systems only on Sundays between 8.30 A.M. and 5.30 P.M. If a student is found using music systems at any other time, they will be confiscated and destroyed. Day boarders are also advised against bringing expensive things to school. Day boarders should not bring cameras, music systems, etc. to the school. They should also not bring, sweets and other eatables to the school.
(4) Medicines: Medicine prescribed by doctors should be taken only under, the supervision of the nurse. Self medication is strictly prohibited. Chyavanprash, honey, calcium tablets, or any other food supplements are not allowed as medicines.
(5) Parcels: Do not send parcels to the school. Many parents are found sending soaps, talcum powder, stationery items like pens, pencils, etc. which are available in the school store. You are advised against it. Do not send gifts on birthdays.
(6) Dress Code: Strictly adhere to the shade and pattern of uniform prescribed by the school. Other casual dress like Track suit, house T-shirt, swim suit or trunk will be provided from the school store. Your ward is allowed to wear coloured clothes on birthdays and a few other occasions. They can bring three sets of coloured clothes. But, trendy, tight fitting, indecent dresses are not allowed. Students are not allowed to colour their hair.
Children should use only the T-Shirts, Tack Suits and Shorts supplied by the school.
(7) Marking on Clothes: Every year we find lot of unclaimed clothes from the laundry. To avoid this, every cloth item brought by your ward must have indelible identity marks – the registered numbers in the form of stitched labels. School does not take responsibility if unmarked clothes are lost. Advise your ward to keep track of the clothes, while collecting them from the laundry. Any loss or damage, should be brought to the notice of warden. We conduct inventory of each student’s belongings soon after they join and keep a record. However, during parent visits children bring fresh clothes and add to their stock. This causes inconvenience, unless informed to the parent teacher. Advise your ward accordingly.
(8) Gifts: Don’t send gift items to your children on any occasion. Don’t bring or send gifts to teachers either.
(9) Telephone Calls: Parents are not allowed to make telephone calls to their wards, except on birthdays. Parents are expected to communicate only through letters. NRI’s can send and receive e-mails. However they can also write letters since we can’t guarantee transmission of Emails.
(10) Visitors: Do not send friends and relatives to visit your ward in the school in the best interest and safety of your child. You are not permitted to personally make telephone calls to teachers in the school or at their residence to discuss about your ward. Any such discussion should be held only with the prior permission from the principal and seeking appointment, or during parent-teacher meetings.
(11) School Store: Students are allowed to purchase requirements from the school after filling in a requisition slip. Many children unnecessarily keep buying stationery items like pens, geometry boxes, etc. again and again. Advise your child against such lavish spending.
|
|
Novels and CD’s:
A few students bring personal copies of various novels and also a lot of CD’s. All types of novels and video CD’s are prohibited in the school. Students are not allowed to keep mobile phones, pager or any such communication devices with them. You are requested to follow the above norms on regular basis and co-operate in the best interest of your child in the school.
|
|
Home Sickness:
It is not unnatural for students particularly new students to feel homesick. They tend to paint a bad picture about the school by complaining about roommates, food, etc. to elicit parent’s sympathy. You are requested not to get emotional or overreact to such complaints. You are advised to inform your ward to report all such problems to the parent teacher or warden or class teacher. Parents are also advised to meet the principal to get first hand information.
|
|
Sickness:
If your child is suffering from any health problem like asthma, epilepsy, etc. do inform us in advance. This will help us in monitoring the child during swimming, morning jogging, etc. Otherwise, no student will be exempted from any of the school activities, except on medical grounds.
|
|
Counselling:
Advise your child to take part in various school activities, aimed at total personality development. Such participation can help in getting selected for school teams or to go abroad on cultural exchange programmes. NCC, Scouts and Guides, karate, dance, music, quiz and scores of such other activities are useful for a child’s growth. Participation in such activities will help the child to overcome stage fright. Many students join badminton coaching, painting, art and craft workshops, etc., but fail to continue the skills acquired. They need to be informed to continue with it during free times, and make use of the equipments provided to them.
|
|
II Instalment Annual Fee:
Please note that II instalment of annual fee should be paid on or before 30th September, 2007. It has been observed that a few parents don’t pay the fee on time causing inconvenience for accounting. Even reminders sent are ignored. Therefore this is to remind all such parents, if the fee is not paid on time, a fine of Rs.100/- per day will be charged for next 10 days. If the payment falls due beyond that, the ward’s name will be deleted from the rolls.
|
|
Change of Address:
Please inform change of address, telephone numbers, mobile numbers, etc. to the school office for updating records.
Please follow the school rules strictly and also advise your ward to do so. Do not ask for undue favours causing embarrassment. Your co-operation is solicited in the best interest of the institution and also your child.
|
Our Concern:
Some children smuggle certain obscene books, magazines and CD’s to the school. Kindly check your ward’s baggage before you drop them in the school. Serious action will be taken against such erring students.
