When the Management was planning to start a school in Gonikoppal, a premier residential school in Coorg was a long felt need. Parents all over Coorg used to go to other places in search of good residential schools providing quality education to children. The idea of the Management was to provide the same in their own district. The weather is fine, the ambience is good and the mood upbeat. The die was cast. Thus was born KAEC (Kodagu Academy for Education and Culture) and the ambitious COPS (Coorg Public School) and Coorg Pre-University College in 1996.

Though the public was sceptical about its success, the five visionaries of the Management were never in doubt. They gelled together with one spirit and rest is history. It has been a dream run, ever since. People who were watching from a distance started watching closely and in no time they were in the campus seeking applications for admission of their children.

To build and sustain a school of this stature, it needs committed team work. What the school is today was envisioned a decade ago, by the Management. So they are neither surprised nor satisfied with the growth and laurels achieved. Now more plans are in the pipeline, to be achieved in the next ten years. This Management consisting of Mr.M.N.Belliappa, Mr.K.A.Subbaiah, Mr.K.A.Poonacha and Mr.M.M.Thimmaiah along with Prof.M.D.Nanjunda, the Principal has built this dream school for the connoisseurs of education to feel proud of. With their ceaseless efforts, today this school draws students from not only all parts of India but also from abroad. The school has elite parents and alumni, spread all over the world. They spontaneously spread the goodwill, the school has earned, because they have been the consumers. Today if COPS is known to be one of the best schools of India, it is not because of lot of media publicity, but because of word of mouth spread by our esteemed beneficiaries. 

Slowly and steadily, we are making a mark in the society. With the present day challenges in the society, our task is cut out. But we are determined to bring out a new breed of youth, who are smart, skilled leaders with patriotic feeling. Our aim is to contribute responsible citizens to the society. The process of preparing them takes place in our classrooms and assemblies, day in and day out. A dedicated team of staff keeps a close watch on all the students, both in class-rooms and outside. They are taught not only text book contents, but also manners and etiquette. A plethora of activities conducted outside class rooms develop the students’ personality in an unprecedented manner. And many of our successful alumni humbly admit that they owe their success to COPS. And needless to say, we are proud of them.
